The production combines archival records and interviews with historians and local residents who revere the cemetery located in Pulaski County, Illinois. The Mound City National Cemetery Preservation Commission, Inc. produced the documentary in 2008. Proceeds from the sale of the DVD benefit the commission.

Quiet Acres received a Silver Telly Award in the History/Biography Category in 2009. WSIU-TV broadcasts a shortened version of Quiet Acres each year during the Memorial Day weekend.
